About the Team

The Global Wholesale and Risk Technology Team plays a vital role within the Global Technologies Applications division. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in the dynamic field of Capital Markets. We are seeking a Technical Support Analyst to become part of this vibrant team.

In this role, you will contribute to, support, and deliver solutions for Scotiabank's Derivative Trading and Sales desks across North America. The team is responsible for managing applications that provide pricing, risk assessment, electronic trading, and trade capture functionalities to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line application support, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders across Front and Middle Office, Product Control, Risk Management, Back Office, Application Development, and Infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure compliance with incident and change management processes, collaborating with various internal teams for reporting and developing necessary improvements to enhance operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and boost customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee service delivery resolution, escalate issues as needed, lead service recovery initiatives, and ensure thorough root cause analysis is performed.
  • Deliver day-to-day support globally to resolve complex business challenges, including new and existing product structuring, ad hoc queries, user training, and assisting with system enhancements.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, risk management methodologies, and regulatory requirements, along with a solid understanding of workflows across Front, Middle, and Back Offices in at least one financial market area (e.g., foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives).
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of the division's business strategies, risk management practices, product offerings, and rapidly evolving technology to provide effective solutions to end-user business lines.
  • Exhibit creativity, self-motivation, and strong analytical skills to independently resolve complex business issues.
  • Demonstrate proven interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build consensus.
  • Provide after-hours support via an on-call pager on a rotational basis, particularly during application releases or maintenance activities.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and products, particularly Derivative Products.
  • Experience with log analysis, application monitoring, and vendor application analysis tools.
  • A strong client service orientation with experience facing trading desks.
  • Familiarity with MarkitWire; knowledge of WSS and ICELink is a plus.
  • Experience in supporting trading systems and understanding the flow of trades from front to back, including assessing systems/components to investigate trade discrepancies, connectivity, and data issues.
