Financial Accounting Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Financial Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to our financial operations and will be based in a hybrid work environment, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and mentor a team of financial accountants, ensuring professional development and a positive work atmosphere.
  • Manage the financial closing processes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including payroll, accruals, inter-company transactions, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with the ERP implementation team to facilitate a seamless transition to new financial systems.
  • Work closely with various departments to ensure efficient processing of financial transactions and reporting.
  • Support the financial planning and analysis team in budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance organizational and departmental objectives.
  • Establish robust internal controls and suggest enhancements where necessary.
  • Coordinate audits with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Assist in statutory reporting in collaboration with tax and legal teams.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 to 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity environment.
  • Experience in external audit, particularly with a Big 4 firm, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with US and Canadian regulations regarding sales taxes and payroll is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with SAP S/4HANA knowledge being a plus.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is highly desirable.
