Financial Lines Underwriting Professional

Sompo International is a leading global provider of insurance and reinsurance solutions. We are seeking an experienced Financial Lines Underwriting Professional to join our Canadian team in Toronto, Ontario.

About the Role

This is a critical role in evaluating and analyzing D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL Liability insurance risks for a wide range of clients in Canada. As an Experienced Financial Lines Underwriting Professional, you will assess risk factors, determine coverage and pricing, and collaborate with other stakeholders to develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with the company's goals and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze management liability insurance submissions, including D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL Liability insurance risks.
  • Evaluate and analyze historical loss data, risk management practices, financials, and other relevant information to determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with brokers and clients to provide risk management advice and develop comprehensive insurance programs that meet their needs.
  • Negotiate policy terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and clients, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to effectively assess risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
  • ~5-7 years of financial lines underwriting experience, preferably in the Canadian market.
  • ~ Professional designations, such as Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), CRM, would be an asset.
  • ~ Knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations and market trends.
  • ~ French language is an asset.
