Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing academic and behavioral support to students with special needs. You will work closely with the Language and Cultural Coordinator to incorporate First Nation cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with special needs
  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students in a structured environment
  • Collaborate with school teams and district administrators to assess student needs and develop interventions
  • Implement individualized transition plans to ensure successful re-entry into general education classrooms
  • Provide crisis response and management for students experiencing behavioral and emotional challenges
  • Keep accurate records and inform administration and staff of student or family contacts

Requirements:

  • Ontario College of Teachers certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and First Nations cultural knowledge
  • Excellent computer literacy skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Special education training or experience working with students with special needs
