About This Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is looking for dedicated physicians to become part of their hospitalist team. This team consists of family medicine practitioners who are passionate about inpatient care. Opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions are available. The schedule includes 7 consecutive days of work, with a call rotation of 1:4 for overnight coverage.

Responsibilities
  • Manage admissions from the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Maternal Child Unit (including infants), as well as transfers from other healthcare facilities.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities.
  • Provide care for all patients enrolled in the hospitalist program during on-call shifts.
  • Respond promptly to calls from nursing units.
Expected Hours

Both full-time and part-time options are available, with the frequency of shifts negotiable.

Typical working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, seven days a week during scheduled weeks.

Compensation is structured at a daily rate for full-time positions, with additional on-call remuneration for weekend and weekday nights, plus fee-for-service billings for services rendered outside of standard hours.

Qualifications

Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the appropriate regulatory body.

Certification with the relevant professional organization is required.

Membership with the medical protective association is also necessary.
