Genetic Counsellor, Hereditary Cancer Specialist

Job Summary
The Genetic Counsellor, Hereditary Cancer position is a key role in the Hereditary Cancer Program at BC Cancer. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide genetic counselling to patients and their families, develop and implement cancer screening plans, and participate in clinical research.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient interviews to gather medical and family history
- Explain hereditary cancer patterns and associated cancer risks
- Recommend cancer screening based on family history and standard guidelines
- Organize genetic testing and counselling for out-of-province family members
- Refer patients to health professionals as necessary
- Document patient information, including medical history, risk assessments, and cancer surveillance strategies
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited master's program in Genetic Counselling
- Minimum of two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Board eligible or Board Certified with the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors and/or the American Board of Genetic Counselling
