Job Title: Estimator - Surrey BC

Matrix Labour Leasing Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Surrey, BC. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in planning cost factors for building projects, analyzing construction documents, and preparing time, cost, and labor estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed estimates for all projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain the estimating cost database to ensure costs are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, and manage the estimating team in the preparation and submission of bids.
  • Consult with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues.
  • Assist the project management team in planning procedures for construction, including starting and completion times and staffing requirements.
  • Research construction documents and analyze specifications to determine estimated costs.
  • Work with the project management team to review plans and specifications for constructability issues and determine general requirements.
  • Manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates costs of materials, labor, and equipment required for each project.
  • Create proper bid packages and work with architects and designers to ensure complete bids have the necessary information.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier bids for conformity to requirements and determine accuracy.
  • Present and explain project budgets to clients, designers, and project managers.
  • Administer the turnover process and hand off to the project management team.
  • Attend site walkthroughs to ensure projects are progressing as planned.
Requirements:
  • Over 5 years of experience in estimating or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including phone skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities, with the capacity to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Time management and attention to detail are essential.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle, as main work is at head office, but sites may be located throughout the Lower Mainland.
Benefits:
  • No overtime; regular hours are 8:00 – 4:30, Monday to Friday.
  • Benefits: 75% of cost covered by the company.
  • Work mileage paid.
