Overview: The Canadian Association of Pathologists is dedicated to the advancement of pathology and forensic science. We are currently seeking a permanent full-time Chief Forensic Pathologist to enhance our forensic pathology services. This role involves conducting a significant number of postmortem examinations annually, contributing to the understanding of sudden and unexpected deaths.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert forensic analysis and consultation for death investigations;
  • Conduct and document comprehensive postmortem examinations, including autopsies and external assessments;
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, legal professionals, and families to deliver insights and expert opinions regarding findings;
  • Ensure the collection of toxicological specimens and maintain accurate records of all examinations.

Required Qualifications:

  • A recognized medical degree;
  • Eligibility for licensure with the relevant medical regulatory body;
  • Specialty certification in anatomical or general pathology, with formal training in forensic pathology;
  • Certification in forensic pathology through a recognized national examination.

The ideal candidate will possess the necessary knowledge and skills through a combination of academic training and practical experience in forensic pathology. Additionally, the successful applicant will be expected to achieve certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Forensic Pathology within a specified timeframe.
