Job Summary

As a collaborative team member, the Educational Support Specialist assists the teacher in the delivery of daily programs and care of students with special needs. The Educational Support Specialist assists in carrying out all Board-approved programs, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, academic, and behavioral programs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Community College Educational Support Diploma or related field of study
  • Work experience in a related field
  • A minimum of one (1) year demonstrated successful experience supporting individuals with special needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of daily programs and care of students with special needs
  • Carry out Board-approved programs, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, academic, and behavioral programs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to provide a supportive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure the needs of students with special needs are met

Working Conditions

  • This position is covered by the C.U.P.E. Local 5200.00 Collective Agreement
  • Candidates will be required to provide an original Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening, dated within the last six (6) months
