Position Summary:

The HSE Field Superintendent is integral to maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards on assigned rigs. This role is pivotal in executing the HSE management system (MS), along with the associated standards, policies, and procedures for the designated rigs and teams. The HSE Superintendent fosters a culture of ownership, responsibility, and accountability regarding HSE practices, ensuring effective communication to promote consistent adherence to the HSE MS. Additionally, the role involves real-time monitoring and analysis of HSE performance indicators to inform both short- and long-term strategic initiatives, with a commitment to achieving Target Zero.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the company's safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, PWS standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide expert technical and regulatory HSE support, offering recommendations for effective compliance.
  • Exhibit strong leadership by modeling safety practices and coaching managers, supervisors, and crews.
  • Evaluate and control critical processes to ensure safety.
  • Implement and oversee core HSE fundamentals, including risk assessments, observations, incident investigations, and management.
  • Continuously monitor and discuss real-time HSE performance, proactively identifying and addressing gaps.
  • Facilitate hazard and risk assessments with teams, compiling summaries and action items.
  • Conduct regular site visits to coach and ensure adherence to HSE standards and policies.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with the Short Service Employee (SSE) process.
  • Engage in incident investigations, focusing on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all HSE incidents, including near misses and stop work situations.
  • Identify and verify the necessary HSE controls and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure all personnel complete required HSE training as per the training matrix.
  • Implement and assist with Emergency Response Systems and Plans, participating in necessary drills.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Working Conditions:

  • 85% field-based work.
  • 15% office-based work.
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Participation in a rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten years of cumulative experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with a preference for service rig experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with a focus on data and analytics.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Adaptability to change and varying work conditions.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring others.
  • High level of personal integrity and ethical standards.

Education and Certifications:

  • Relevant safety certifications: H2S, First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Arrest, Rig Rescue.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED).
  • Preference for candidates with five or more years in a wellsite leadership role, such as Driller or Rig Manager.
