Job Title: Support Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at The Alex. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to residents in our Place Based Supportive Housing (PBSH) programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide resident care and support, including assistance with daily living activities, medication management, and crisis intervention.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to promote resident independence and well-being.
  • Facilitate group and individual programming to support resident engagement and skill-building.
  • Collaborate with the case management team to ensure comprehensive support services are provided to residents.
  • Participate in training and team meetings to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Represent The Alex in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality and boundaries.
Requirements:
  • Degree or diploma in a related field of study (e.g., social work, psychology, recreation therapy) or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build connections and rapport with residents.
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, coaching, and guiding residents in various activities.
  • Experience working with residents experiencing mental health barriers, homelessness, and poverty is an asset.
  • First Aid (Basic or Intermediate) - Level C CPR & AED certification within 30 days of hire date.
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance is required.
