Job Title: Intermediate Structural Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team at ASPECT Structural Engineers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and leading projects, collaborating with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers, and delivering high-quality project deliverables on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed structural design under the mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Participate in delivering and managing small to large-sized projects throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with other design consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Have sound knowledge of codes and standards within the area of design responsibilities.
  • Deliver project deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and help promote our core values.
  • Contribute to the team's technical knowledge resources.
  • Be creative and innovative in problem-solving.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, including BIM technicians.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 36+ years of local experience designing buildings, especially designing concrete structures.
  • Eng. registered in BC or eligible for accreditation within 6 months of your start date is essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Sizer, or other similar structural analysis software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Well-rounded knowledge and experience designing with wood frame, steel, and concrete. Experience with mass timber is an asset but is not required.
  • Understanding and experience with seismic analysis and design.
  • A Master's degree in structural engineering is an asset.
  • Experience with architecturally expressive structures.
  • Working knowledge of American codes and standards (PE is also advantageous) is an asset.
