Job Title: Power Lines Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Lines Design Engineer (EIT) or Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our Ontario engineering team at Phasor Engineering Inc.

Job Summary

As a Power Lines Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design and engineering execution of transmission projects, working closely with our experienced technical team. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems, interacting with internal and external contacts, and supporting Professional Engineers with technical studies and calculations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems, creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, and developing design drawings following applicable utility, national, or international standards and codes.
  • Interact with internal and external contacts as necessary for design details.
  • Support Professional Engineers with detailed technical studies and/or calculations, preparation of cost estimates, creation of equipment specifications and installation standards, requests for quotation, evaluation of new equipment.
  • Develop material and construction specifications.
  • Provide procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations.
  • Develop overhead and underground structures and equipment structure spotting.
  • Design and evaluate various electrical equipment components.
  • Aid in the preparation of design packages for client reviews and construction.
  • Escalate design issues to Professional Engineers for review and direction.
  • Perform calculations related to the design of overhead and underground systems.
  • Review of designs to ensure accuracy, perform quality control and quality checks prior to project release.
  • Support project coordination documentation and activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Carry out site visits with Professional Engineers to support engineering and construction.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience in construction and/or construction support is an asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (CSA, IEEE etc.) preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
