About the Role

Gardewine is a leading transportation company with a strong presence in Canada and a rich history dating back to the 1950s. We are seeking an experienced Account Manager to join our team in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential accounts and organizations.
  • Explore and foster partnerships with existing and potential businesses to promote growth and diversity in our service offerings.
  • Develop and implement business plans to stimulate revenue from existing and new business.
  • Conduct regular visits, phone calls, and follow-up calls to maintain accounts and identify new opportunities.
  • Solicit business from various sources and ensure rate agreements and rate increases are current.
  • Prepare rate requests, bring to proposal stage, and follow up in a timely manner.
  • Conduct customer after-sales service calls and development calls with existing customers.
  • Assist with providing rate quotes to customers and sustain regular communication with the operations team.
  • Participate in sales and management meetings and report on sales activities and account variances.
  • Identify opportunities, threats, and risks to the business and collaborate with the Director of Sales to establish achievable goals and clarify workload priorities.
  • Communicate customer needs and requests with operations and administration and follow up with the resolution.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and perform other operational duties as assigned in support of departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Three to five years' experience in distribution, logistics, or transportation at a supervisory or CSR level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to solve problems timely and effectively while maintaining customer relationships.
  • Intuitive sales skills to manage daily operations while anticipating future opportunities or challenges.
  • Excellent time management skills to work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, customer relationship management programs, or other logistics software programs.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular use of computer and phone in a sedentary position.
  • Will be required to travel approximately 1 week per month.
  • Will be required to have a valid license and own vehicle to make customer service calls.
