Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized program in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent education.
  • Certification from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) or an equivalent body from another province is preferred.
  • Certification from the International Certification Commission (ICC) as a CBET(c) is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities paired with advanced problem-solving skills.
  • A reliable work and attendance record is crucial.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and software applications, including clinical networks, servers, and medical device software maintenance.
  • Experience with device integration in the EPIC environment is advantageous.
  • Advanced mechanical skills.
  • Capability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • In-depth knowledge of current clinical equipment and its applications.

Position Responsibilities:

  • This role will primarily focus on Q-site devices, including those in the Operating Room and associated facilities. Staff may also be required to provide support across various locations as operational needs arise.
  • Ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) for all equipment within this role's portfolio are consistently met.
  • Facilitate effective communication between clinical staff and Biomedical Engineering regarding equipment service and management needs.
  • Identify and implement practices to enhance Biomedical Engineering operations, aiming to optimize productivity.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on medical equipment, addressing issues related to critical life-support systems and other specialized devices.
  • Respond to technical and clinical support requests during challenging situations at the patient bedside.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for colleagues, patients, and visitors.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless operations across different sites as needed.
  • Foster a customer-focused environment in all interactions.
