Operational Risk Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operational Risk Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Regulatory Operations & Controls team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the overall success of our business strategies and objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective operational risk management frameworks and procedures.
- Collaborate with business units and key internal partners to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks and controls.
- Lead the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program, ensuring timely and accurate completion of RCSA reports.
- Coordinate the New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA) process, providing guidance to initiative sponsors and ensuring proper completion of the NIRA process.
- Develop and maintain the Risk Appetite Framework (RAF), including document updates and executive approvals.
- Monitor and report operational risk metrics, including tracking and reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Provide analysis and insights on third-party supplier risk across Global Operations.
- Support the Director with monthly and quarterly Operational Risk Event (ORE) reporting, highlighting themes and trends to inform senior management.
- Collaborate with Global Operations units to complete the required prioritization templates for the RCSA Scenario Prioritization exercise.
- Work with business units and key stakeholders to execute Compliance Risk and Control Assessments (CRCAs) and regulatory control library activities.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.
- Support the development and implementation of recovery and resolution planning initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with Global Operations business units and applicable support and control functions to remain current on new developments and emerging risks.
- Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant field, such as operational risk management, regulatory compliance, or internal audit.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in operational risk management, regulatory compliance, internal audit, or other relevant areas.
- Expert knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and negotiating skills.
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent leadership and time management skills.
- Knowledge of Spanish language is required (Bilingual role).
