Job Overview

The City of Ottawa is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Transit Services Department as a Supply Chain Analyst. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective management of materials and supplies within our Transit Materials Management Branch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce internal compliance policies and procedures to maintain robust fiscal and physical controls for materials management.
  • Conduct thorough market analysis and track industry trends to inform decision-making.
  • Compile and coordinate data for comprehensive reporting to management.
  • Provide regular updates and insights regarding materials and supply management activities.
  • Undertake strategic assessments and advise management on best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to legislative requirements and corporate guidelines.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements in business processes.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with suppliers and business partners.
  • Address audit inquiries from both internal and external auditors.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a four-year university degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in materials or supply management, particularly in an operational context, is required.

Certifications

Preferred certifications include the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation or equivalent credentials in public procurement.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in supply management, including procurement and inventory control.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to develop and implement new processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with financial management and cost accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant corporate software applications.
