Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of Société Financière Manuvie. Reporting to the AVP Head of Finance, this role is responsible for driving the effective management and continuous improvement of the planning process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with business organizations to develop financial strategies that drive growth and meet objectives.
  • Develop and implement the annual financial plan, incorporating scenario analysis and stress testing to inform short-term and long-term decision-making.
  • Utilize data and analysis to inform decision-making, considering relevant factors and financial metrics.
  • Manage and drive forecasting reporting, distilling complex financial information into actionable insights for the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Partner with the Product Management team and Bank Treasury team to perform profitability analysis and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Assist in setting critical financial metrics and goals.
Strategic Initiatives:
  • Oversee financial modeling and analysis for strategic projects, evaluating potential impacts on the Bank's financial health and sustainability.
  • Facilitate collaboration between departments to coordinate new projects and services, aligning with the company's overall objectives.
  • Participate in and lead projects/task forces in support of major Bank-wide initiatives.
Leadership and Team Development:
  • Provide leadership coaching and mentoring to the team, fostering a culture of growth and development.
  • Build talent capability and engage employees through focused career discussions and ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain an environment that motivates and recognizes individuals, celebrating achievements and demonstrating company values.
  • Make decisions regarding employment, compensation, performance appraisals, training, and development.
Requirements:
  • Accounting designation (CPA) with 8+ years of relevant experience in progressive accounting roles, preferably in banking.
  • Considerable knowledge of financial planning and forecasting principles and techniques.
  • Effective leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
  • Passionate about achieving desired outcomes, with the ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to inspire and engage staff, providing clear direction and coaching to achieve objectives.
