Autism Support Professional

The Autism Support Associate will play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) receive high-quality support that enhances their quality of life. This position requires a strong understanding of ASD and the unique support requirements of individuals with this diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the primary liaison with family, medical, educational, leisure, and recreational contacts to ensure seamless support.
- Provide coaching and support in areas such as social skills, communication, and leisure activities to help individuals achieve their personal outcomes.
- Identify and address barriers that impact the achievement of quality of life, ensuring that personal outcomes are met for each individual.
- Administer medication as per procedure and follow established Behavioural and Crisis Protocols.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, supports, and community members to ensure a collaborative approach to support.
- Provide leadership and coaching to other employees to continuously improve the quality of service and work environment.
- Completion of a Human Services Diploma or equivalent, or a Personal Support Worker certificate with 1 year of related experience, preferably supporting individuals with ASD.
- Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the unique support requirements of individuals with this diagnosis.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
- Ability to physically support adults with ASD and complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, First Aid/CPR, and perform required physical techniques.
- A valid Driver's License with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle, as well as proof of third-party liability insurance coverage.
