Role Overview:

The Financial Analyst will report directly to the Controller of Hydro Lands and will be instrumental in supporting the realty teams. This role involves the preparation of comprehensive financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, assisting in the formulation of the annual multi-year budget, and providing essential financial operational support. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will identify and recommend enhancements to financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct financial and business analysis in collaboration with operational and finance teams.
  • Prepare and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assess funding requests, review balance sheets, and assist with financial reporting in line with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Contribute to the development of the Province's multi-year budget, including forecasts and strategic planning.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage bank reconciliations, customer accounts, and collections from service providers.
  • Prepare journal entries and oversee accounts receivable/accounts payable tasks.
  • Address financial inquiries and coordinate with external stakeholders as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles; familiarity with real estate practices, financial controls, and reporting systems is advantageous.
  • CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • A few years of experience in financial analysis is required.
  • Experience in accounts receivable is beneficial.
  • Experience in the real estate sector (property/facility and lease management) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of public sector operations is an asset.
