Position Overview - Full Time - Onsite

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Business Operations, this role is pivotal in overseeing all aspects of warehousing activities, including the receipt and distribution of goods. The individual will be accountable for the precise and efficient processing of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies. The Warehouse Operations Leader will provide strong logistical management through effective leadership, sound decision-making, and the supervision of a dedicated team of warehouse personnel.

Regular physical handling of shipments is required, which may involve repetitive heavy lifting and the operation of equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks. It is essential to inspect shipments to confirm their contents and quality. The Warehouse Operations Leader must recognize the significance of this role in relation to other business functions that rely on the accuracy, efficiency, and documentation of product movements. Effective inventory management and maintaining relationships with agencies and vendors are critical responsibilities of this position.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who excels at optimizing processes, including maximizing space utilization for optimal workflow, and will spearhead the implementation of a new warehouse management software system. This individual will play a key role in documenting training procedures, as well as best practices for shipping, receiving, and scheduling.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in warehouse supervision; background in receiving and distribution; familiarity with food movement is a significant advantage, as is a connection to the charitable sector.
  • Valid G Driver's license (DZ license is a strong asset).
  • Current and clean driving record.
  • Resides in the Hamilton area.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for team leadership.
  • Proficient computer skills with above-average MS Excel reporting capabilities; familiarity with warehouse management software is preferred.
  • Forklift certification (current preferred, training available).
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Must have access to a vehicle.
  • First Aid Certification (training available).
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs.

Position Details:

Title: Warehouse Operations Leader

Salary: Competitive compensation package

Location: Onsite, Monday to Friday

Work Hours: Flexible hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, ensuring tasks are completed - No weekends, occasional overtime.

Additional Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, transportation, and/or inventory management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Able to plan, organize, develop, and implement warehouse objectives and policies.
  • Capable of supervising and motivating a team to achieve goals.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Exceptional planning and resource allocation abilities.
  • Experience in the non-profit or charitable sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computerized inventory control systems is advantageous.
  • Current forklift certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts.
  • Able to perform in a busy, physically demanding environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Good understanding of first aid and health and safety regulations.
