About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Totem Resorts. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Presentation: Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets, weddings, and other special functions.
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring that menus meet quality standards and are executed to perfection.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise and train cooks and other kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they meet the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory, analyzing operating costs and other data to optimize kitchen operations.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that all guests receive high-quality food and service.
  • Culinary Innovation: Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff, creating new recipes and menus to enhance the culinary experience.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Work Setting: Hotel, motel, resort.
  • Ranks of Chefs: Sous-chef.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, initiative, organized, reliability, team player.
