Job Summary:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for the safe preparation, serving, and distribution of nutritious meals to clients under the direction of the Site Coordinator or Supervisor - Nutrition and Food Services, Cook II or Cook I. This role involves serving meals to staff and visitors, performing cashier duties, and following proper sanitation safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve meals to clients in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform cashier duties and manage cash transactions
- Follow proper sanitation safety guidelines to maintain a clean and healthy environment
- Work collaboratively with the nutrition team to ensure high-quality food service
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of therapeutic and texture modified diets
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 10 education
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook/Email, and online training
- Knowledge and understanding of all therapeutic and texture modified diets
- Knowledge and understanding of sanitary food handling
- Six (6) months previous experience working in food handling and/or health care food services environment
- Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated ability to lift items up to 1-5 kg constantly, 6-11kg occasionally, and 23 kg seldomly
- Demonstrated competency in cash management
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
- Proficiency in both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality
- Good work and attendance record
Conditions of Employment:
- Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate
- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy
