About the Opportunity

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate's research will focus on controls and mechatronics, with a strong emphasis on demonstrated expertise in the area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish a strong externally funded research program
  • Supervise thesis-based graduate students
  • Participate in service activities at the Department level and beyond
  • Foster existing and new collaborations with government and industry
  • Collaborate with members of Dalhousie's research community
Requirements

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline). They must also be eligible and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia.

Preferred Research Areas
  • Artificial intelligence/machine learning (development, application, integration)
  • Autonomous systems, with a focus on marine/ocean engineering, energy systems, manufacturing, and biomechanical applications
Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and advanced topics related to their research activities at the graduate level.
