Rubicon Organics Inc. is a prominent player in the Canadian cannabis industry, operating a state-of-the-art greenhouse facility. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Cultivation to oversee our cultivation operations. This essential position is responsible for managing the entire production lifecycle, from greenhouse operations to implementing sustainable practices, team leadership, and driving continuous enhancements.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our Senior Greenhouse Manager to execute Integrated Pest Management (IPM), climate control, nutritional strategies, and crop management in alignment with FVOPA organic standards. This role is crucial in maintaining exceptional quality and efficiency in our cannabis cultivation processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Grow Strategy Execution:
    • Ensure consistent application of our cultivation processes from propagation to harvest.
    • Partner with engineering and maintenance teams to maintain optimal infrastructure functionality.
    • Implement nutrition, irrigation, and IPM programs, adjusting strategies based on real-time data.
    • Conduct regular assessments of plant health, proactively addressing issues as they arise.
    • Leverage expertise to enhance greenhouse conditions, monitoring environmental factors such as light, temperature, and humidity.
    • Maximize plant health and yield through effective crop management techniques from cloning to flowering.
    • Design and refine production strategies with a focus on detail and quality of the final product.
  2. Cultivation Leadership:
    • Collaborate with the Cultivation Labour Manager to create efficient cultivation schedules that optimize team productivity and plant growth.
    • Work alongside the strategy and crop science teams to develop innovative growing techniques.
    • Manage changes through careful experimentation and present findings to leadership to enhance yield and quality while minimizing costs.
  3. Team Management:
    • Partner with the Cultivation Labour Manager to structure teams and foster a culture of accountability within the greenhouse.
    • Oversee a diverse workforce of over 40 individuals, including managers, supervisors, team leads, technicians, and operators.
    • Provide mentorship and training to support the professional growth of team members.
    • Implement effective communication strategies to facilitate collaboration across various departments.
    • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of team members.
  4. Continuous Improvement:
    • Regularly analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency and productivity.
    • Collaborate with Operations and Research teams to integrate new technologies and methodologies that improve production outcomes.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and regulatory updates to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive advantage.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale greenhouse cultivation operations, particularly in environmental control.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cannabis cultivation practices, plant biology, and greenhouse technologies.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
