Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Cook to join our dynamic Food and Nutrition Department team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals, prepared and served with love.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food for residents, including complex meal preparation, following standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Review regular and therapeutic menus, set up equipment and supplies for food preparation, and ensure meals are served on time and at appropriate temperatures.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of food supplies, proper operation of kitchen equipment, and alert the Manager of problems.
  • Direct Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serving activities at mealtimes.
  • Maintain required records, such as menu changes, delivery receipts, and temperature checks.

Requirements

  • Meet one of the three qualification scenarios: Chef training, culinary management certificate, or post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management.
  • "Red Seal" certification preferred.
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking preferred.
  • Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read and write English, and understand moderately complex verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Proven ability to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment.
