Marketing and Communications Specialist

Job Summary:
The Marketing & Communications Specialist will play a key role in developing and implementing internal and external communications and marketing strategies to increase the reach and impact of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation's profile and visibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and implement internal and external communications for the Foundation, including press releases, proposals, newsletters, in-house publications, direct mail, annual reports, presentations, and audio-visual materials.
- Develop image-building stories to create awareness of the Foundation's brand and mission, highlighting donations' impact on patient care through creative and professional marketing and public relations.
- Act as the first point of contact for the Foundation and the Executive Director with regard to external communications, providing support with presentations, media releases, and other external communications.
- Maintain close communication with Hospital administration and departments to keep current on program and service developments supported by donor funding.
- Collaborate with the team to coordinate the delivery of fundraising program promotion strategies, including email, social posts, online ads, print communications, and other appropriate marketing/communication mediums.
- Lead the development of the marketing/communication budget and work within that budget each fiscal year, notifying the Executive Director of any emerging budget changes that will benefit the organization.
- Develop and monitor quarterly reports of ROI (Return on Investment) on marketing and communication efforts.
- Develop comprehensive marketing strategies, creating regular content, design, and marketing materials for a monthly 50/50 lottery.
- Act as a brand steward, upholding visual and written brand standards and ensuring consistency in all marketing and communication pieces.
- Brief the Executive Director on design, copy, image, and content needs for promotional and fundraising literature and activities.
- Maintain a photo, video, and print archive.
- Develop a web strategy for the STEGH Foundation website, developing processes to keep the website up to date and operating efficiently.
- Maintain and grow social networking presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate social media strategies using consistent processes, templates, and tools.
- Lead the planning, implementation, application review, and testimonial collection for the Foundation's Bursary Programs, coordinating the number of bursaries available and testimonial collection of the Medical Student Bursaries in partnership with Medical Affairs.
- Promote and support third-party community events to ensure optimum outcomes on behalf of the Hospital and community.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and businesses to support the mission.
Qualifications and Key Competencies:
- Post-secondary education – Degree or Diploma and/or equivalent work-related experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience and demonstrated success in communications and marketing roles.
- Experience writing and designing content for a medium to large size organization, ability to tailor messages to best connect with target audience and build brand equity.
- Experience working with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Advertising, SEO, and Digital Display Advertising.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector considered an asset.
- Experience working with Raiser's Edge considered an asset.
- Proficient in the use of all corporate productivity tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Canva Pro and Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
- Knowledgeable of the latest digital tools and trends and proficient in developing, implementing, and measuring effectiveness of an integrated online strategy through a variety of digital platforms.
- Ability to work independently using an above-average level of initiative, highly organized, takes initiative/self-starter, detail-oriented.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively on a variety of priority projects with competing deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Superior interpersonal and collaboration skills – able to engage and interact effectively with all levels of the organization and key stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and evaluate plans and actions, assessing long-range impact and financial outcomes.
Work Environment:
The Marketing & Communications Specialist works 37.5 hours per week in a hospital office environment. Occasional work outside of regular office hours will be required during periods of peak activity and at special events. Work will require travel within Elgin County and London area.
