Position Overview: As the Supervisor of Training and Compliance Operations, you will oversee and guide a team of Training Officers and Compliance Investigators. Your varied responsibilities will encompass vehicle and equipment training, collision investigations, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards for City operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership and maintain a safe working environment for your team.
  • Track training recoveries and ensure annual budget recovery to support departmental initiatives in a full cost recovery framework.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in training methodologies, collision investigations, and compliance processes.
  • Evaluate training programs, response times to requests, and other performance indicators to enhance service delivery, providing regular updates to relevant business units.
  • Manage the Carrier Profile and on-road safety performance for the City, contributing to the development of a governance structure to mitigate carrier risks.
  • Design and implement vehicle and equipment training programs that adhere to recognized adult learning principles and meet legislative and safety standards.
  • Generate reports and updates on compliance with Service Level Agreement performance indicators, fostering open communication and effective change management.
  • Anticipate future operational needs and identify opportunities for innovation and enhancements to achieve business goals.

Qualifications:

  • A completed two-year diploma in Adult Education, Operations Management, or a related discipline, accompanied by a minimum of four years of experience in vehicle and equipment training or safety compliance, including at least two years in a leadership role; OR
  • A degree in Education or a related field with at least two years of experience in vehicle and equipment training or safety compliance, including at least one year in a leadership capacity.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits, or a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than four demerits, and no pending charges or suspensions.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation, strong interpersonal and time management skills, and effective decision-making capabilities.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions: This role involves both office work and field visits for site assessments.
