About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Payroll Accounting Specialist is responsible for processing and validating the payroll accounting requirements across OMERS and Oxford Properties. As a key member of the team, you will partner with various stakeholders within the Enterprise to execute on critical activities related to the processing and reconciliation of payroll accounting feeds and entries, including domestic and international payrolls and other month-end duties as required.
You will play a key role in streamlining and optimizing the processes and controls governing the recording of payroll costs in the general ledger. We have recently transitioned to a new ERP system – Oracle Cloud - and are invested in leveraging all available tools to increase the efficiency of our reporting processes. You will work closely with the Manager and cross-functional teams to implement new processes, systems, and procedures, while identifying opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities
- Continuously challenge current practices and offer fresh perspectives for optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline payroll processes and ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare month-end reports.
- Maintain accurate records of employee compensation and benefits.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of new payroll systems and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant payroll legislation and regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in payroll accounting, preferably within a large organization.
- Strong understanding of payroll principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with payroll software systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
