Role Overview:

The Contract Educational Designer/Documentation Specialist role requires a robust background in both educational design and technical writing, with the capability to produce engaging and effective instructional materials and documentation.

This role involves:

  • Creating and developing educational materials for various audiences, including textbooks, assessments, knowledge checks, e-learning scenarios, and recommendations for video or animated content.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to simplify complex technical content for better learner comprehension.
  • Applying departmental editing and style guidelines to all deliverables.
  • Utilizing instructional design models, learning theories, and e-learning solutions in course development.
  • Evaluating existing and potential content to identify areas for enhancement and content gaps.
  • Working closely with the Technical Content Supervisor to establish the course vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing instructional materials aligned with learning objectives and appropriate tasks.
  • Conducting quality assurance checks on all deliverables.

Technical Writing:

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to refine technical content for appropriate learner comprehension.
  • Implementing departmental editing and style guide standards.
  • Coordinating with editors.

Analysis and Research:

  • Partnering with the Technical Content Supervisor to shape the course vision.
  • Conducting preliminary learner profiles and client needs assessments.
  • Evaluating existing and potential content for improvement opportunities.
  • Identifying content requirements for new courses where necessary.

This position reports to the Technical Development Supervisor and allows for remote work from a home office. CWB Group has adopted a remote-first work model, enabling employees to work from home while serving clients in their designated areas, either remotely or in person. We promote flexibility, encouraging employees to create schedules that suit their needs, their teams, and their clients.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Educational Design.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer with strong written communication skills in English.
  • 3+ years of experience as an Educational Designer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • This is a remote, work-from-home position.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Technical Writing Certification.
  • Ability to write or translate in French is a plus.
  • Experience in trades training and course development.
  • Basic knowledge of Articulate 360.
  • Basic knowledge of D2L.
  • Basic knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Intermediate understanding of assessment methodologies.
