Adjunct Faculty in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Durham College is in search of a qualified and enthusiastic individual who aligns with our dedication to excellence and student achievement. The Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Information Technology is looking for a part-time instructor to lead laboratory sessions for PHRM2103 – Advanced Pharmaceutics.
This course will cover both theoretical concepts and practical applications related to the manufacturing and testing of solid dosage forms. Additional dosage forms such as semi-solids, emulsions, liquids, patches, and aerosols will also be explored. The curriculum will include discussions on the theory and practice of chemical analyses from a pharmaceutical standpoint. Students will engage in mathematical calculations as outlined in the USP and other regulatory documents, which will be practiced during the course. The laboratory component will involve testing various raw materials and finished products in a simulated quality control setting, where results will be assessed against established acceptance criteria to determine compliance.

- Applying adult education principles to actively involve students in their learning journey;
- Effectively leveraging educational technologies to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses;
- Designing curriculum that incorporates suitable strategies and tools for evaluating student performance;
- Ensuring course and program content remains current and relevant;
- Demonstrating independence and initiative in the teaching role;
- Collaborating effectively with students, program teams, and various internal and external stakeholders.
- A relevant degree complemented by industry credentials (Master's degree is advantageous).
- A minimum of five years of recent and pertinent professional experience.
- Experience in teaching at the post-secondary level, with a solid understanding of Universal Design for Learning and contemporary assessment practices.
- Participation in industry-led or community-based applied research is a plus.
- Proficiency in utilizing current technologies to facilitate student learning and grade management.
- A proven commitment to lifelong learning.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, support staff, and community partners.
- Familiarity with the Ontario college system.
