Job Summary

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Clinical Laboratory. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct laboratory tests and analyze results to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  2. Develop and implement laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide laboratory results and recommendations to inform patient care.
  4. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory services and patient outcomes.
  5. Stay up-to-date with advances in laboratory technology and techniques to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  1. General certification in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized post-secondary institute.
  2. Certification through the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  3. Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in areas of responsibility required.
  4. Minimum one (1) year recent laboratory experience in related disciplines, as required by assigned area.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop skills and knowledge in required areas of the laboratory.
  6. Experience with current instrumentation/automation in respective areas an asset.
  7. General knowledge of all areas of the laboratory preferred.
  8. General knowledge of the theory and practices of applicable laboratory procedures and equipment required.
  9. Meditech and LIS knowledge and experience an asset.

Professional Affiliation

  1. Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO) in areas of responsibility required.
  2. Participation in professional committees, networks recommended.
