Job Title: Primary Care Paramedic

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Primary Care Paramedic to join our team.

About the Role:

As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and transportation services in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and efficient patient care and transportation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess emergency scenes and patients to determine the level of care required
  • Transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities
  • Administer minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation as needed
  • Lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes
  • Ensure that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles are properly stocked and equipped
Requirements:
  • Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent
  • Five (5) year driver abstract current within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing work
  • Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (FARE) test
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6 months experience working as a posted designation in EMS frontline operations
  • Current, relevant experience as an AHS employee working in Metro EMS, dedicated Intra-facility transport, and Suburban/Rural EMS
