About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals in our acute care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide personal care to patients, including assistance with toileting, bathing, skin and hair care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, and changing beds.
  2. Observe and report patient progress, including any changes or concerns, to the designated nurse.
  3. Assist patients with meals, including completing menu slips, checking meals for dietary restrictions, and serving and collecting meal trays.
  4. Measure and record patient vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, as directed by the nurse.
  5. Document patient care and observations on patient charts, following established procedures.
  6. Transport patients using mechanical aids, such as wheelchairs and lifts.
  7. Assist with the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients, including the transfer of clothing and personal belongings.
  8. Perform a variety of related general duties, such as answering phones, maintaining storage areas, and ordering supplies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Grade 10 education plus completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current Food Safe Level One certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
