ABOUT YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Director of Legal Affairs, the successful candidate will deliver exceptional legal counsel, guidance, and services regarding regulatory compliance for PSP's investment and corporate operations, particularly concerning securities laws, rules, and regulations.

As Senior Regulatory Counsel or Director of Legal Compliance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising PSP teams, including the Legal Affairs and Compliance divisions, on regulatory issues, particularly those related to securities laws.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape that impact PSP's investment and corporate activities.
  • Engaging in corporate initiatives by leading or participating in working groups focused on regulatory and corporate matters, as well as drafting and reviewing policies, procedures, compliance programs, and processes to mitigate regulatory risks.
  • Collaborating with fellow legal professionals in Legal Affairs to review investment management and other agreements concerning asset management from a regulatory compliance standpoint, especially regarding securities laws.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the legal work performed by approved external legal counsel globally, in alignment with internal policies.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • A Juris Doctor degree.
  • Membership in the Bar Association of any Canadian province or territory.
  • A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience as a lawyer specializing in securities law, regulatory frameworks, and/or corporate transactions, gained through private practice or as in-house counsel for a large organization or compliance group.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance concerning securities laws, rules, and regulations, as well as derivatives and complex investment products, is advantageous.
  • A strong work ethic, professionalism, and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Capability to manage competing priorities and handle multiple files simultaneously.
  • High competence in analytical thinking and precision.
  • A collaborative spirit and a willingness to contribute to a growing organization.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
