Healthcare Assistant

The Pediatric Surgical Ambulatory Clinics at Hamilton Health Sciences cater to the specialized healthcare requirements of children aged 0-17 years.
These clinics provide family-centered care across various specialties including Pediatric General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, and Urology.Position Overview
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) delivers clinical support to patients in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate efficient patient and information flow between the team and administrative staff.
- Ensure clinic rooms are prepared and ready for patient use between appointments.
- Prepare clinic charts and maintain stock of clean supplies and educational materials for patients.
- Assist physicians and clinical teams within the scope of HCA responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
1. Certificate as a Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide is mandatory.
2. Prior experience in a hospital or clinic setting is essential.
3. Familiarity with computer systems or a willingness to learn necessary skills.
4. Strong communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
5. Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment suitable for the role.
6. Capacity to accept assigned or delegated tasks.
7. Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
8. Competence in collaborating with various hospital departments.
9. Physical capability to lift using proper techniques and perform bending, pushing, and pulling tasks safely.
10. Experience in pediatric care is preferred.
As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination must be submitted to Employee Health Services.
