About Our Tax Division:

Our division is organized into three specialized groups (US, Canadian, International), all reporting to the VP of Tax. You will report directly to the Tax Director, Global Reporting and Compliance.

The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses exceptional organizational capabilities, is meticulous, has a solid understanding of IFRS - IAS 12, and is well-versed in Canadian tax regulations.

Our work environment is fast-paced, with daily responsibilities encompassing a range of tax and accounting functions.

You will manage and engage in the global and Canadian tax compliance activities.

Special Initiatives:

Actively contribute to the evaluation of global tax provision reporting processes to enhance efficiency and assist in the implementation of new methodologies.

Ensure timely global tax compliance (global consolidated tax provision).

Oversee the global tax provision: reconcile effective tax rates by identifying permanent differences, analyze financial data to determine the correct tax treatment, review and assess the continuity of current and future tax accounts, and prepare the year-end income tax note in accordance with the calculated tax provision and IAS12 standards.

Prepare the reconciliation between the tax provision and the prior year's tax return ('true-up / BTT').

Manage and coordinate the tax implications of legislative changes affecting global tax compliance (e.g., Pillar Two, interest limitation, etc.).

Apply IFRS (IAS12 and IFRS34) to both global and Canadian tax provisions.
Maintain relationships with all sites (controllers) for tax reporting purposes.
Ensure compliance with processes in place (SOX controls) surrounding global tax compliance for tax provisions.
Oversee the transfer of tax entries recorded at the consolidated level to various sites (pushdowns).
Provide support to controllers of foreign subsidiaries regarding tax inquiries and review foreign tax returns.

Prepare, analyze, and supervise tax provisions for domestic and international subsidiaries as part of the public financial statement reporting process.

Lead a team of 2 tax professionals to deliver quarterly tax reporting.

Analyze assessment notices received for foreign entities to identify potential risks to be considered in the consolidated tax provision.

Participate in the quarterly tax provision reports presented to management.
Support the Canadian tax team with tax research, provisions, and tax returns as required.

Oversee the tax accounting of mergers and acquisitions transactions and coordinate timely communications with other Finance teams regarding M&A tax implications.

Engage in various special projects related to changes in tax legislation and enhancements to tax compliance processes.
Participate in the training and development of team members.

Stay informed about changes in tax regulations across all countries and tax rates (statute of limitations, rules regarding the treatment of losses, and others).

A university degree in accounting is required.
Training in taxation is essential.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) is necessary.
Comprehensive understanding of tax provision concepts (permanent differences, temporary differences) is required.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate tax compliance, including 2 years in accounting, is expected.
An accounting designation is advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
Familiarity with Oracle and HFM is a plus.
Bilingual proficiency in French and English is preferred.
