Radiation Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at BC Cancer. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of innovative cancer treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Patient Care
- Conduct patient assessments, review medical histories, and educate patients and families on treatment options and side effects.
- Consult with other healthcare professionals as needed to ensure comprehensive care.
- Treatment Planning and Delivery
- Review and implement radiation treatment prescriptions, including computerized treatment plans and dose calculations.
- Construct immobilization devices and position patients for optimal treatment outcomes.
- Perform manual and computerized planning calculations for radiation treatment techniques.
- Quality Assurance and Patient Education
- Ensure accurate treatment records and maintain quality assurance checks on equipment.
- Assist patients in understanding their treatment plans and side effects.
- Qualifications
- Degree in Radiation Therapy or recognized certificate and Canadian Association for Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification.
- Recent completion of a Radiation Therapy training program or active employment as a Radiation Therapist.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Physical stamina to perform job duties.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism principles.
