Career Guidance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Counsellor to join our team at Gateway College. As an Educational Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Education and Career Guidance: Provide expert guidance to students on their academic and career paths, helping them to make informed decisions about their future.
- Counselling and Support: Offer one-on-one counselling and support to students, addressing their personal and social issues, as well as their educational and career concerns.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies to provide comprehensive support to students.
- Program Development: Co-ordinate the provision of counselling and information services to students, parents, and teachers, ensuring that our students receive the best possible support.
- Test Administration: Administer and interpret standardized intelligence, aptitude, and interest tests to help students identify their strengths and areas for improvement.
- Referral Services: Refer students to other specialized services when required, ensuring that they receive the support they need to succeed.
- Staff Development: Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and workshops to stay up-to-date with best practices and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Recruitment and Outreach: Arrange for the recruitment of graduating students by employers, helping to connect our students with potential employers.
- Presentation and Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, and symposia, sharing your expertise with a wider audience.
- Student Support: Answer inquiries from students, providing them with timely and accurate information to support their academic and career journeys.
- Progress Evaluation: Evaluate and document students' progress, ensuring that they receive the support they need to achieve their goals.
- Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Participate in government or community programs that support newcomers and refugees, helping them to settle and integrate into our community.
- Settlement Support: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and refugees, including housing, transportation, storage, childcare, and winter clothing.
- Social and Labour Market Integration: Support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and refugees, facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
- Credential Recognition: Support newcomers and refugees with foreign credential recognition, helping them to access education and employment opportunities.
- Youth Employment: Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment, offering on-the-job training and awareness training to employees.
- Indigenous Support: Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people, providing cultural competency training and awareness training to employees.
