Position Overview

Core Responsibilities:

The Manager of Research Operations will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of all research study activities, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Collaborating and engaging with study leaders and key stakeholders
  • Managing financial resources and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements related to the primary and ancillary projects
  • Tracking key performance metrics and indicators, such as participant recruitment
  • Providing assistance to grant-supported initiatives associated with ongoing projects
  • Coordinating with various departments within Research Operations, Services, and Support to fulfill institutional, regulatory, and departmental obligations, including ethics board submissions and contract development
  • Overseeing and facilitating knowledge dissemination activities, including conferences, workshops, and special events, as well as contributing to broader divisional initiatives
  • Assisting in the preparation of new grant applications and research protocols as necessary
  • Supporting the drafting of manuscripts and presentation materials as required
  • Coordinating regular meetings and establishing frameworks to ensure project deliverables are achieved
  • Managing all facets of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and daily oversight of research personnel; proactively identifying training needs and performance management opportunities
  • Ensuring adherence to institutional and research policies, procedures, and regulations by research staff

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, health administration, social work) and have a minimum of 5 years of pertinent research experience. Experience working with individuals and families facing mental health challenges is advantageous. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Proven management experience
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and governance related to human participant research (e.g., ICH GCP, TCPS2, Health Canada regulations, FDA guidelines)
  • Experience with large-scale clinical trials and/or multi-site studies; certification as a Clinical Research Professional is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Canadian and U.S. funding environments
  • Previous exposure to neuropsychological and clinical assessments is beneficial
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap) is preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management abilities, capable of handling multiple projects while producing high-quality work under deadlines, with adaptability to shifting priorities
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a demonstrated capacity for initiative, sound judgment, and effective independent work in a dynamic, high-functioning environment while ensuring team deliverables are met
