Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Banking professional to join our team as an Associate Group Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of Client Service Associates and providing guidance and support to Client Relationship Managers in Mid-Market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Provide advice and counsel to Client Relationship Managers on the presentation of credit proposals, including coaching, prompt feedback, and sound guidance on structuring deals.
  • Ensure the ongoing quality of the credit portfolio by providing oversight to the team on various aspects, such as early identification of problem loans, appropriateness of risk ratings, timeliness of annual reviews, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage a team of Client Service Associates, providing timely performance feedback and developing the skills of the team through coaching and guidance.
  • Support the Group Lead and Director in their absence as necessary for the continual smooth operation of the Team.
  • Contribute to business development opportunities by identifying and recommending referral opportunities and possible cross-sell options to Client Relationship Managers in Mid-Market.
Requirements
  • University degree with a business background, MBA or professional designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the Commercial banking industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of Commercial Banking Distribution structure and the role of other groups within Commercial Banking.
  • Experienced Lender with strong overall Credit skills and Sales skills.
  • Strong knowledge of credit structures and applicable risk management.
  • Superior coaching and proven people management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Good negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong regulatory and compliance knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good knowledge of competitor offerings, alternative sources of financing, and industry knowledge.
Language Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English in addition to French, as they will be working closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English, reporting to a manager from head office who is an English speaker, and/or serving English-speaking clientele.
