Job Title: Youth Worker

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team at Coast Mental Health. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young individuals who are experiencing challenges related to mental health, addictions, and other complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with youth in the community, providing support and guidance to help them access essential services and resources.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting youth in need.
  • Provide education and training to youth on life skills, independent living, and social agency interaction.
  • Assist youth in accessing and developing links to community programs and services, including leisure, vocational, and educational opportunities.
  • Observe and record the physical and mental health status of clients, taking necessary action to ensure their well-being.
  • Advocate for and with clients to promote their rights and dignity.
  • Work effectively independently and in cooperation with others to achieve program goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Community Social Service or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with youth experiencing issues related to addictions, mental health, and other complex challenges.
  • Ability to provide or obtain necessary certifications, including First Aid + CPR, WHMIS, and FoodSafe.
  • Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance and TB Clearance.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, working Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 7pm. The successful candidate will be required to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
