Job Summary

The Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Cyber Operations Risk Management to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for directing and managing risk-related activities supporting all pillars internationally from initiation to delivery.

This role will work closely with the Risk Management Operations team and organizational cross-functional teams to ensure cyber security objectives are maintained through the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery of the Controls framework to ensure effective risk management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to respond to regulatory requests and audit queries.
  • Manage and execute internal review and challenge processes to improve the quality of submissions.
  • Define and provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the Risk Management Operations team.
  • Coordinate security control reviews and assessments with other GCS Cyber and Risk teams.
  • Contribute to the development of GCS Strategy, roadmaps, and overall direction of controls and services.
Requirements
  • University/College graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and compliance requirements related to cybersecurity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to stakeholders.
  • At least 5 years of experience in people management.
  • At least 7 years of experience developing, evaluating, or implementing cybersecurity, technology, or risk assessment activities in the financial services industry.
  • Keen attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving and thinking outside the box.
  • Experience responding to and/or participating in regulatory requests and exams.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and meet consistently high-quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Professional security/risk management certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC.
