Business Unit Overview

The Residential Lending business unit is a key segment of Home Trust's operations, working closely with brokers and borrowers to provide a range of mortgage solutions. Our team is dedicated to delivering outstanding service, while adhering to the company's legislative and regulatory requirements.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Mortgage Origination Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the completion of residential mortgage files, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review mortgage files to ensure client documentation meets all company lending policies and guidelines
  • Manage and compile mortgage documentation in a timely manner, in a high-volume and service-oriented environment
  • Instruct files to solicitors and conduct daily follow-up with brokers to ensure all required documentation has been submitted
  • Escalate unusual transactions to manager and communicate effectively with all internal and external contacts
  • Collect and review documentation supplied by client and broker to ensure authenticity and compliance with company policies and guidelines
  • File Unusual Transaction Reports as applicable, to detect and deter financial crimes activity

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma required, with a related area of study
  • Certification(s)/Designation(s) preferred
  • 2 years of experience in an administrative environment, preferably within the mortgage industry
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and loan origination software

Working Conditions

  • Some work beyond standard hours may be required
