Become a vital member of our Agriculture division as a Financial Accounting Specialist. This diverse group of experts is dedicated to the agricultural sector, possessing a keen insight into the unique challenges and opportunities that arise within this complex and ever-evolving field. As a reliable advisor, you will provide a broad spectrum of specialized knowledge that is crucial to the success of our clients, ranging from primary producers to food and beverage enterprises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax engagements.
  • Prepare and manage government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, and payroll transactions.
  • Establish client files, assist in budget preparation, and execute administrative planning.
  • Conduct the month-end and quarter-end closing processes.
  • Maintain, monitor, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany transactions, and point of sale (POS) uploads.
  • Identify discrepancies and issues, investigate variances, and collaborate with managers or engagement partners to formulate solutions.
  • Liaise with government entities regarding information requests, assessments, and payments.
  • Collaborate effectively with the client engagement team.
  • Be open to travel as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Possession of an accounting certificate or a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (an accounting or finance major is advantageous).
  • Entry-level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with preparing T4s and T5s, along with knowledge of personal and corporate taxation, is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and processes is beneficial.
  • Experience with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
