Position Overview:
Are you an Indigenous community member eager to explore a career in the Oil Sands sector? If you possess a strong commitment to safety and an interest in machinery operation, consider the role of Heavy Equipment Operator within our mining division. No prior experience? No problem – we are dedicated to providing the necessary support to help you succeed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must identify as Indigenous Status or Non-status
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Possession of a valid full Class 5 Driver's License at the time of application (not a graduated driver's license)
  • Current residency within the RMWB area
  • If you have prior experience in equipment operation, please highlight this in your application, as it may enhance your chances for temporary Heavy Equipment Operator roles

No Experience? No Worries:
We welcome candidates without Heavy Equipment Operator or mining experience to apply. Selected individuals may have the opportunity to participate in a 4-week training program at Keyano College. We value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you are invited for an interview, please be prepared to discuss your interest in a career in Heavy Equipment Operation.

  • Tuition fees will be covered; however, candidates will not receive compensation during the classroom training at Keyano.
  • Upon successful completion of the training, candidates may begin a paid co-op position lasting up to 6 months at Suncor Base Plant Mine or Syncrude facilities.

Key Details:

  • Work locations include Suncor Base Plant Mine or Syncrude facilities.
  • The shift schedule consists of a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts).
  • This is not a camp-based or fly-in/fly-out role.
  • This is a temporary position lasting up to 6 months.
  • This role is considered safety-sensitive.
