Your Opportunity:

The Child and Youth Development Specialist plays a vital role in the inpatient tertiary care program at the RAH, working under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and nursing unit manager. This position involves providing ongoing observation, therapeutic support, and supervision to children and youth with neuropsychiatric difficulties.

Description:

As a Child and Youth Development Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing behavior plans specific to each child's or adolescent's neurodevelopmental difficulties. You will also attend conferences with multidisciplinary teams and provide referrals to other disciplines and external agencies as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assessment, treatment, and follow-up to children and youth in the community, educational system, and/or hospital setting
  • Create, implement, and update family service plans specific to child/youth needs
  • Observe, identify, and report child developmental or behavior difficulties and make recommendations to the interdisciplinary team
  • Liaise with and provide referrals to other disciplines and external agencies as appropriate
  • Provide information and education regarding child/youth development to parents, education providers, and the community
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care or a related field
  • Basic –CPR (Current)/BLS Health Care Provider certification
  • NCVI Certification
  • Minimum of one year experience working in a residential or hospital setting with children and youth negatively impacted by addiction and/or mental health challenges
