Nurse Clinician, Skin Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Clinician to join our team in skin and wound care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert consultation and clinical expertise in skin and wound care and prevention, utilizing evidence-informed practice to achieve the most effective outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership in evidence-informed practice related to skin and wound care, reviewing literature, consulting with experts, and collaborating with the interprofessional team to evaluate clinical practice and recommend changes to existing standards.
- Role model direct patient care skills to staff and students, providing just-in-time education at the point of care, and coaching, mentoring, and providing information utilizing clinical evidence, policy, literature, and resources.
- Perform identified complex wound modalities as needed and follow up on complex skin and wound cases.
- Determine education requirements that meet clinical and learner needs, completing learning needs assessments of individuals or groups to assist in the determination of the learning requirements and their objectives.
- Develop and revise teaching plans based on identified learner needs, chart audits, patient outcomes, and introduction of new skills/procedures.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs and consultations to ensure skin and wound care objectives/learning needs are met and to determine opportunities for quality improvement.
- Collaborate with other practice leaders to provide leadership, consultation, and performance support to clinical staff, employed student nurses, and students to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Support staff to plan and carry out patient/family education about discharge planning, illness prevention, and health maintenance.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities by evaluating the effect of changes in practice, making recommendations to improve current practices, and conducting quality and safety audits.
- Arrange and/or provide preceptorships and mentorships for staff and students regarding skin and wound care, as appropriate.
- Participate in research and special projects, promoting staff awareness and involvement in research activities.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in skin and wound care, including one (1) year of education and/or leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes are also required.
