Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Planner to join our team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). As an Electrical Planner, you will be responsible for preparing assessment work packages, interfacing with customers to identify the full scope of work, and identifying work hazards, materials, and support groups relating to the work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Assessment Work Packages: Develop and prepare assessment work packages, including Job Cards, IWP's, and DWP's, in accordance with Pro-339.
  • Interface with Customers: Collaborate with customers to identify the full scope of work, including site visits and estimating work content for trades.
  • Identify Work Hazards: Identify potential workplace hazards and take necessary steps to mitigate risks.
  • Manage Materials and Support Groups: Identify materials and special tooling requirements, and interface with engineering for design and evaluation of work.
  • Develop Work Plans: Develop and prepare work plans, including identifying related procedures and manuals, and recommending substitutions for equipment or components.
  • Procure Materials and Equipment: Procure materials and equipment, and estimate and procure materials as needed.
  • Monitor and Expedite Material ETAs: Monitor and expedite material ETAs, and interface with Planning Coordinators to ensure tasks are scheduled based on accurate ETA information.
  • Assess Performance: Assess performance based on customer satisfaction, accuracy of estimates, response time/turnaround time of jobs, and completeness/consistency and technical content of work packages.
Requirements
  • Education: Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in one or more relevant industrial trades, or graduation from an Institute of Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years pertinent technical experience as a journeyman in the area of industrial maintenance or construction, or minimum of six (6) years experience in industrial maintenance or construction.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be a self-starter, willing to promote new ideas, and possess good problem-solving skills. Must communicate effectively with technical sections, Maintenance Planning Coordinators, and work groups at all levels. Must be competent in verbal and written communication skills, and able to stay motivated and achieve established goals and objectives.
  • Security Clearance: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom.
