Your Opportunity:

As a Mental Health Clinician with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in the Enhanced Services for Women team, working in Community Addiction and Mental Health. This position requires a recovery-oriented approach, focusing on equity-deserving pregnant individuals and those struggling with substance use and/or mental health concerns. Your responsibilities will include screening, assessment, treatment, navigation support, and group facilitation. You will also engage in outreach activities, offering services at clinics or in the community. Effective consultation with stakeholders is crucial in connecting clients with community agencies and resources. Committee work may be involved as needed. Other duties may be assigned to align with the scope of the role.

Description:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating to deliver care for individuals, families, and communities. Your key responsibilities will include intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, as well as other team members, as required. You may have opportunities to participate in program planning, development, and provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of counselling experience.
  • Training in Motivational Interviewing and knowledge of harm reduction related to substance use.
  • Understanding of recovery-oriented systems of care.
